150 Cases of Shingella Reported
 |
| Shigella has reached a record that has never been reached, with over 150 cases being reported. |
Shigella is a an infectious bacteria that causes severe illness, people spike very high fevers and even have seizures. The symptoms range not only from fever but also from nausea and cramping. This recent outbreak has been like nothing the United States has ever seen before, because it is 15x the average that it has ever been before. Normally there are maybe 10 cases a year, but this year there has already been 150 cases. The majority of people who have been exposed to this illness have been children in elementary school, and who are exposed to the germs. If there are this many more outbreaks then how is this supposed to be treated? Doctors say to wash hands AND use paper towels so that the paper towel catches the bacteria.
