Federalism

1. Federalism is the system in which the government in controlled by two levels of the government. The National Government helps with issues that effect the whole country and subdivisions of the government aid local issues. Both the National Government and the smaller subdivisions both have power to each other. 2. There are approximately 195 nation states in the world.

3. Federal Systems range, some express a variety of different aspects of a Federal Government. The US, Mexico, Germany, Canada, Australia and Brazil all have a standard federal government. There are 27 nations with federal systems of government. Most countries using the federalism system are large.

4. The Majority of Large Countries Operate by a Federal Government.

5.A Unitary System of Government is a sovereign state as a single thing. This means that a state governed is ruled as one in the central government, the central government chooses to delegate which powers.

6.Over 150 countries function as a unitary government. France, China, Japan, Italy and the United Kingdom are among the largest five unitary systems of government.

7. The Unitary Systems, puts all the power in the central government, where the Federal government some powers are given to the central government and powers are also dispersed to the lower levels of government as well. The advantages to the Federal Government is that the government is not over powered, because power is distributed.  An advantage to the Unitary government is that it creates and sets uniform policies, making a direct and aligned government. But also the issues among counties, causes conflicts because not all countries can be accommodated by a unitary government.

8. The states want the power, but they don't want to be controlled. They want the best of both worlds, but don't want to be controlled directly by the Federal Government.

9.The feds, are against marijuana that the man is using. The feds are saying it is illegal, but it portraying them as monsters because this man is using it for medicinal purposes. Using marijuana for cancer, is alot cheaper if regulated for medical use rather then using costly pharmaceuticals.


10. This picture portrays that the Government, agrees that states have their own power BUT when California comes in wanting to do something, they freak out. This is where it tends to be tricky on how much authority can and should be granted.


11. It uses a three layered cake, to show the local, state and federal governments and clearly depicts roles for each of the government. The layers show how they are switched up, when they are tiered it shows whats on top being superior. The representation of the teared cake, show alot of problems, because it is misleading

12. The marble cake is different than the layered cake because of the boundaries that are drawn for each of the three governments are unclear and they end up mixing. Shows how they are intertwined and mixed up.
